This 1958 Fleetwood Sixty Special draws a ton of attention wherever it goes, and rightly so. It thoroughly captures the big, bold design elements that defined Cadillac in the era; massive proportions, impressive grille, glorious fins, daring colors, and brightwork to excess. But this one is also a very nice driving car that has seen proper care and maintenance to ensure it is more than just good looks. Combine that with a documented history since 1960 and it makes for a very special automobile.
A brief history on this example. While the original owner is unknown, in 1960 it was purchased as a used vehicle from Nodell Cadillac by a gentleman named Anthony. It showed 14k miles at the time. In 1976 it was passed on to his son Ray, and then to his daughter Sharon in 1989. It has been with three additional owners since 1995, all of whom were excellent stewards of this gorgeous car. Documentation is included along with an original owner’s manual.
This extended deck Fleetwood is neither subtle nor small. It measures just over 225” in length while tipping the scales at more than 5,000 pounds. Wow! The metal is straight and free of any rust issues. In 1987 it received a full repaint in its original code 49 Meridian Taupe, while all the brightwork was re-chromed, polished, or replaced. The car has only seen 15k miles since that time. One of the more unique features of the Sixty Special is the cladding on the quarter panels and fender skirts. Nobody did it like Cadillac! Note the whitewall tires and correct wheel covers as well.
The engine is Cadillac’s 365ci V8. Recent maintenance includes a replacement intake manifold along with a new Edelbrock carburetor, electric fuel pump, rebuilt water pump, and a tune-up. The automatic transmission is Cadillac’s robust 4-speed Hydra-Matic. This is followed by a conventional driveshaft feeding the 3.07 rear end. The brake system was serviced in 2026 which included a new booster, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, hoses, and hardware. The shocks, sway bar bushings, and exhaust were recently replaced as well.
The interior is finished in Beige Tunisian Cloth / Metallic Leather and is almost completely original! Of course it shows some wear but is in remarkable condition for being nearly 70 years old, which is a testament to both quality materials and loving care. The dashboard gives a not-so-subtle reminder of what you are driving with plenty of chrome, a large glove box, and dual ash trays with lighters. The speedometer and all gauges work properly including the clock! All four power windows and the front power vent windows are also functional. So are the headlights, dash lights, turn signals, wipers, horn, heater, defroster, and parking brake.
This classic Cadillac has plenty to offer. It is not only a beautiful, extravagant car but will also take you anywhere in true 1950’s style. Just be sure to measure your garage before you bring this one home.
