Here is a nicely built 1940 Ford Deluxe Tudor Sedan that combines an old-school hot rod look with many updated features including air conditioning. While many such cars might look the part but be miserable to drive, or have nice mechanicals but with dismal cosmetics, this one pulls it all together to yield a great looking classic you can drive every day.
This was a comprehensive professional build and shows just over 1,700 miles since completion. It is as clean underneath as it is above; be sure to see all the photos. The black paint does not show any ripples or waves, while the flame treatment surrounding the gorgeous 1940 Deluxe grille gives an outstanding period look. The tail section has smooth, flowing lines along with the unmistakable Chevron-style taillights. The shiny 5-spoke wheels with knockoff-style center caps add some nice contrast and wear tires from 2025.
The drivetrain uses a combination of proven reliable street components. Power comes from a Chevrolet 350ci engine with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke, HEI distributor, and headers. This connects to a TH350 automatic transmission which feeds a Ford 8” rear end through a conventional driveshaft. The front end has been converted to a Mustang II setup with an independent suspension and rack and pinion steering. Brakes are power front discs, and the battery has been relocated to the trunk.
The custom two-tone interior is both spacious and comfortable. It starts with a Glide Engineering front bench seat that offers easy adjustability and rear seat access. Note the matching door panels and tight headliner too. The dashboard has been modified with a set of white faced Auto Meter gauges. There is also an integrated heat / air conditioning unit to keep you comfortable year round. A tilt steering column has been installed and is topped by a Lecarra steering wheel. You might also notice the original Deluxe wind-up clock (though it is only correct twice per day). All headlights and turn signals work properly as do the horn, windshield wipers, and parking brake.
This really is a nice build. It may look like a throwback to hot rods of the era, but it offers a much improved driving experience that you can actually enjoy. All in a turn-key package that is ready for its next owner.
