If you really want to have some fun at the track then check out this 2012 Lotus Evora. It takes all the great elements of the Evora and amplifies them with more power, less weight, better handling, and improved braking. It also delivers a more aggressive look and sound than anything put out by Hethel.
To be sure, this car has been converted to track duty and is no longer street legal, having jettisoned equipment like airbags and catalytic converters. It is being sold on a bill of sale without a title. As often happens with such cars, it found this calling after being written off as salvage. In this case it was due to vandalism which occurred in 2015 with fewer than 1,000 miles on the car. It changed hands a few times and accumulated more miles until 2021 when things really changed. It was sent to Gator Motorsport in Indianapolis for some initial prep work, and then to BOE Fabrication in Kansas City for completion and tuning. Additional equipment was sourced from Greg’s Race Parts in Sparks, NV. These are all quality shops that specialize in the Lotus brand.
The car was redone in the spirit of the Lotus GT4 racers. The front and rear shells are now removeable with quarter-turn fasteners. There is an extended front splitter along with a rear diffuser, louvers, and an adjustable wing. The body had been covered in scratches from the vandalism incident which was very unsightly, so in 2025 the car received a full white wrap with a green center stripe and other graphics. It’s quite a look! There are also two sets of Enkei wheels included.
The original 3.5L Toyota V6 received a few performance bits and was retuned. It sounds amazing as the revs build. The engine is coupled to an IPS 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The brakes have upgraded rotors and a Tilton balancing system, while the suspension was also redone for the track. The battery has been relocated behind the left seat and includes a cutoff switch.
The interior is now void of carpet, power windows, and other non-essential items. The seats were replaced with Sparco pieces with 5-point harnesses. A full AIM instrumentation system was installed along with a detachable steering wheel and cool suit box. Other race items include a roll bar and a fire suppression system. A Tilton brake balancer is also present.
This Lotus is one of the sleekest cars you will see in the paddock. But it is also tremendous fun to drive and will make even an amateur driver feel like Ayrton Senna. Whether you want to compete in a wheel-to-wheel series or tear it up at Autocross, this one will show you a good time.
