It’s not terribly difficult to find an old Willys 4x4 pickup. But it is hard finding one as nice as this beautiful example. This 1962 model has been through a full nut-and-bolt restoration by Willys America and shows only 6 miles since completion. Equipped with a 226ci engine and overdrive, it is in fantastic condition inside, outside, and underneath with excellent mechanicals throughout.
This pickup was sent to Willys America in California where it received a full restoration completed in 2010. We’re not talking about a quickie paint job and a rebuilt carburetor here; this was a comprehensive effort that left no part untouched. The body was removed from the frame and everything was stripped to bare metal. The frame was refinished in black, while the body was painted in green and white along with new or reconditioned trim and emblems. It also received new glass, seals, and window sweeps along with the correct tailgate graphics. Tires are Cooper LT215/85R16’s all around including the spare.
The 226ci Super Hurricane inline-6 engine was completely rebuilt and runs like a champ. The same is true of the three-speed transmission, transfer case, and overdrive. The truck starts easily and shifts properly through all the gears including 4WD, high / low range, and overdrive. The Superwinch hubs turn smoothly as well. This Willys had essentially not been driven since completion so in 2025 the brake and fuel systems were refreshed to ensure smooth and safe operation.
The interior is on par with the rest of this amazing pickup. Everything looks like new including the seat upholstery, door panels, kick panels, headliner, rubber floor, and dashboard. While there were not many gauges or controls from the factory, everything is present and functional. That includes the lights, turn signals, speedometer, fuel gauge, and temperature gauge. The horn, wipers, parking brake, and door locks all work as well. A couple nice touches are the shifter label on the glove box door and the informational sleeve on the sunvisor.
This Willys Jeep truck is like travelling back to 1962 when you could buy a new 4WD pickup that really meant something. It’s one of the nicest examples on the market and was restored by the premier Willys shop in the country. Why spend six figures and wait 2-3 years when this one is ready to go today?
