With exactly 27 miles this 2022 Harley-Davidson Fab Bob is essentially a new bike. It was originally sold at Laidlaw’s in Baldwin Park, CA and was simply not driven. It is a great looking big twin that has plenty of new technology and superior performance but still presents as a Harley.
Technically the FXFBS, but better known as the Fat Bob 114, this sporty cruiser has a bold look. It is built around the air/oil cooled 114 cubic inch Milwaukee-Eight engine which features four valves per cylinder and a single camshaft. It keeps things straightforward with pushrods and adjustment-free hydraulic actuators, and delivers a reliable 100 hp. The balance of the drivetrain uses a wet multiplate clutch feeding the 6-speed transmission followed by a belt drive.
The Softail chassis keeps the rear spring out of sight for a hardtail look. It is lighter and more rigid than previous designs, resulting in better handling. The inverted front forks help in this regard as well. You also get twin disc brakes with ABS. The 16” wheels wear big tires with a 150/80 in front and 180/70 in back.
The bike offers a comfortable seating position along with a simple instrument pod housing an analog tachometer and digital speedometer. Electronic self-cancelling turn signals are also present. This one has been fitted with crash bars along with a saddle bag, license plate frame, and rear rack with back rest. It also includes an unopened owner’s manual and a Harley-Davidson battery tender.
The Fat Bob is a nice blend of technology, design, and tradition. And despite its moniker, this model actually presents a more compact design overall. With just 27 miles this bike has essentially been a display piece since new, yet you can buy it today for less than half the price of a 2024 model.
