Here is a real-deal 1978 Camaro Z28 4-speed.  This second-generation version represents a car that remains relatively affordable yet is much more refined than earlier Camaros.  This one looks fantastic with its beautiful green paint and Z28 styling.  And with a numbers-matching 350ci small block and 4-speed transmission, it is also great fun to drive.

This is a genuine Norwood-built Z28 that includes a copy of its build sheet and has the correct “Z28” trim tag callout.  It is free of any rust problems and has a nice straight body.  The car was been repainted in its original code 48 dark green metallic which looks great and is fairly rare (5.5% of production).  Of course, as a Z28 it also has the side fender ports and rear facing hood scoop along with a 3-piece rear spoiler.  The polished American Racing wheels provide a nice contrast to the paint and wear brand new Cooper tires all around.

Under the hood is the numbers-matching 350ci small block V8 with a few performance parts including a Holley Street Dominator intake manifold, Street Demon carburetor, and Accel ignition.  A set of headers feeds the dual exhaust which is void of catalytic converters.  The engine is backed by the numbers-matching Super T10 4-speed transmission which is hard to find on a 1978 model.  The rear end is a 3.73 ratio with Positraction.  Other factory equipment includes the F41 sport suspension along with power steering and power front disc brakes.  Everything is in proper mechanical condition which makes for a great driving Z28.

The black vinyl interior retains a stock appearance throughout with the exception of a Jensen in-dash stereo and an oil pressure gauge under the dash.  Bucket seats flank the floor shifter which still has a functional reverse lockout and backdrive (must be in reverse to remove the key).  All gauges work properly including the recently replaced speedometer.  The headlights, tail lights, brake lights, backup lights, and turn signals are all functional too.  Same with the horn, radio, wipers, heater / defroster, and parking brake.

Camaros have always been popular with collectors and enthusiasts alike.  And while first generation Z28 models have pushed well beyond the $100,000 mark, the second generation cars remain within reach of most buyers while offering a better design.  This example captures all the spirit of the era while providing an exhilarating ride as you shift through the gears and get down the road.
