The 1957 Chevrolet represents one of the most iconic images in the automotive world.  The bullet front grille, bombsight hood ornaments, wonderful use of chrome, wraparound windows, and those perfect tail fins are the essence of the era.  This restored 210 Delray model demonstrates all those elements and much more.  If you’re looking for a quality Tri-Five that offers a fun driving experience then we encourage you to read further.

This beautiful ’57 underwent a frame-off restoration that resulted in the gorgeous automobile you see here.  Note this example is a somewhat rare factory Delray as shown by the 1011A body code (which Chevrolet called a Club Coupe).  The project started with a rust-free car from New Mexico.  The bottom side was finished in red oxide paint and all the mount bushings were replaced.  Up top, the body received a high quality repaint in its original code 819 India Ivory / Matador Red.  It also gained new chrome, trim, emblems, lenses, glass, and more.  The steel wheels with attractive covers are wrapped in Goodyear 7.50-14 whitewalls.

The original straight-6 engine was replaced with a rebuilt 327ci V8.  This is a large journal 3956618 block topped with 333882 heads for good street performance and compatibility with modern gasoline.  The top end sports a 1957 “Power Pack” arrangement with a 3731398 intake and Rochester 4v carburetor.  A dual exhaust is present as well.  The three-speed manual transmission works great and adds a little fun factor.  The brakes, steering, and suspension are all in good operating condition and ready for the road.

Like the exterior, the interior was completely redone and looks fantastic.  Note the 1957 Delray interior was not as distinct as the 1955-56 versions.  The two-tone seat covers and door panels more closely resembled the 210 patterns which were used on this car.  A new headliner was professionally installed along with black carpeting which is a Delray upgrade over the standard 210’s rubber flooring.  The dash and steering wheel are classic 1957 including the big steering wheel and “Two Ten” horn ring.  Everything looks stock except for a set of MW underdash gauges.  The wipers have been converted to electric for reliable operation.  The lights, turn signals, horn, heater/defroster, and parking brake all work properly.

This really is a beautiful Chevrolet and a great example of a true American classic.  It is one of those cars everyone will want to stop and talk about.  It is also complete and ready to go, inside and out, top and bottom.  All the new owner has to do is drive and enjoy!
