What a sharp looking Corvette! While the lines of any C2 are hard to beat, this one really sparkles in the sun. And being a drop-top 4-speed with power steering and brakes, it is a load of fun to drive as well. Throw in a recent restoration and you’ve really got a nice example of the most desirable Corvette generation.
This is one of the first mid-year Corvettes produced, with an October 1962 date code and serial number 2592 (they made almost 120,000 from 1963-1967). It went through a frame-off restoration in 2020 with fewer than 400 miles since completion. The body received a new front clip and some general repairs, while the frame was sandblasted and painted. Upon reassembly the car was painted a metallic burgundy with many new or reconditioned parts installed; bumpers, moldings, emblems, bezels, lenses, grilles, seals, and more. It also has a set of 1967 bolt-on style wheels with red-line bias ply tires.
The drivetrain uses a rebuilt 327ci that is not original to the car but uses the correct 3782870 block. The engine is on par with the 300hp motor of the day. The transmission is a Borg-Warner T10 4-speed (correct for early 1963) that really adds to the fun factor for these old Corvettes. The rear end is an AU-code (1967 big block) with 3.36 gears. Note this car also has power steering and dual reservoir power brakes, making it easy for anyone to drive.
The black interior was redone with Dynamat throughout for a better driving experience. It has a stock appearance with the exception of an aftermarket steering wheel and Hurst shifter / knob. Also the headlight circuit was rewired to allow the motors to operate directly with the headlight switch; no more separate rocker switch! Everything works including the clock and power antenna. Same with the horn, heater, wipers, dash lights, radio, and parking brake.
This is a really nice turn-key C2 convertible. You are not inheriting somebody’s unfinished project here; all the hard work has been done for you. It was built to look great and be fun to drive rather than worrying about NCRS judging. That way you can enjoy the car most from the driver’s seat – the way it should be.
