This 1967 Corvette is a fairly rare example. To begin, it is a convertible with factory air conditioning which is not often seen in a C2. It is further equipped with an automatic transmission which only went in 10% of Corvettes that year, making it even more unique. All wrapped in a Sunfire Yellow car with a numbers-matching 327, power steering, power brakes, and bolt-on wheels. Have you ever seen one like it?
This midyear shows a build date of May 24, 1967. It appears to be a no-hit body with its original panels and bonding strips. It has seen a repaint in its original code 984 Sunfire Yellow which makes for an eye-catching Corvette. The white soft top adds to the pastel appearance. It has been re-dyed but does exhibit a few small areas of peeling. All the chrome is in good condition as are the lenses and emblems. The optional 15” bolt-on wheels complete the look and wear Cooper white stripe tires from 2014.
The 327 ci engine is the numbers-matching HO-suffix small block which had a factory rating of 300 hp. The stamp pad shows the proper VIN derivative and an assembly date of June 1, 1967. It starts easily, has a smooth idle, and performs well on the road. The motor is backed by a Powerglide automatic transmission which feeds the original 3.36 rear end. This is a great combination for anyone wanting easy, reliable driving. It is made even moreso with power brakes and power steering.
The interior is standard black vinyl. The bucket seats are fitted with headrests, another unusual feature that is nice to have. These flank the center console which houses the automatic shifter and seat belt holders. Looking at the dashboard, everything appears clean and orderly with clear lenses and crisp gauge markings. The dash pods and door panels are in great condition too. The air conditioning blows cold and has been converted to R134a. All gauges work properly including the clock. Same with the wipers, horn, heater/defroster, and AM/FM radio. The headlight doors and all lighting are also in proper operating condition. The only non-functional item is the parking brake, rarely used on an automatic car.
This is a special C2 convertible. It has a look and feature set that set it apart from so many other midyears. In addition, this is a roadworthy convertible that anyone can get in and drive today, without concern about difficult steering, hard brakes, a stiff clutch, or lack of a/c. There aren’t many sports cars from this era that offer such an experience.
