The Pontiac GTO remains one of the most desirable models of the muscle car era. This refurbished example helps explain why. It looks fantastic with its rare Limelight Green paint and black vinyl top over the classic A-body lines. You also get a proper black interior complete with factory air conditioning and a center console. But this one also has great mechanicals including a rebuilt, numbers-matching 400ci 350hp engine mated to a TH400 automatic transmission. It all makes for a very desirable Goat.
This car was built at the Arlington, TX plant in May of 1969 and was sold new at Majestic Pontiac in Los Angeles. The southwestern upbringing is reflected in the excellent underside condition; it’s hard to believe this car is more than 50 years old. The body has been professionally refinished in its original color of Limelight Green. This is a very attractive color that you don’t often see. It is nicely accented by the black Cordova top and related trim pieces. There is also the GTO badging, twin scoop hood, and Endura front bumper, while the Rally II wheels with Coker redline tires are the perfect touch.
This GTO retains its original YS-code 400 ci motor which has fewer than 2,000 miles since a 2016 rebuild to stock specifications. The TH400 transmission was also serviced at that time. A lengthy receipt showing $19,322 for this work is included along with other receipts showing more than $5,000 for additional mechanical items. Other equipment on this Pontiac includes power steering and power front disc brakes with new calipers. The car is a real pleasure to drive and remarkably comfortable too.
The interior has also been reconditioned but retains a stock appearance in its original black color. The front bucket seats and rear bench are all in very good condition as are the door panels, carpet, and headliner. Rubber floor mats are also present and all seat belts are in place including the front shoulder belts. The dashboard and center console also look great with attractive woodgrain accents on both. Everything works properly which isn’t usually the case on cars from this era! That includes the key buzzer and the reverse lockout mechanism. And of course the air conditioning.
If you’re seriously thinking about a 1960’s classic then this one is definitely worth a look. This is not your average A-body; it is a quality car throughout with a look that’s tough to beat and the ride to match. All from a real numbers-matching GTO with full PHS documentation. Wouldn’t this look good in your driveway?
