This 1941 Ford half-ton pickup represents one of the most beautiful automotive designs of all time. The flowing grille, gorgeous curves, and balanced proportions still look great after more than 80 years. This all-steel example was completely restored in 2000 and has seen a few updates since including modern air conditioning. And with a large array of tasteful, practical, and reliable modifications this gorgeous truck runs as good as it looks.
This classic Ford wears tri-coat paint with a subtle metalflake that looks dark brown or even black in the shade but has a brilliant sparkle in the sunlight. Even the coated running boards share this treatment. It really stands out! The wooden bed was completely redone as well and is protected by a roll-up tonneau cover. All the brightwork looks great as do the new American Racing polished aluminum wheels wearing equally new Toyo tires (215/50R17 front, 245/55R18 rear).
Under the hood is a healthy 350 cubic inch Chevy engine built specifically for this pickup. Highlights include Edelbrock aluminum heads, aluminum intake, 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke, and HEI distributor. It sounds great through the ceramic coated headers and dual exhaust. The transmission is a Chevy TH350 automatic with a column shifter. This is a reliable package that makes plenty of power for a small truck like this one. Up front is a Mustang II style suspension with disc brakes and power rack and pinion steering. The rear of the truck retains leaf springs but with a Ford 8” rear end. The battery resides beneath the floor with a charging post under the hood.
The custom interior has been professionally refinished in Oxblood with woodgrain accents and really looks sharp. The leather bench seat is adjustable and includes 3-point seat belts for both occupants. There is also a tilt steering column with a conventional turn signal mechanism and banjo style steering wheel. The dash houses a full complement of VDO gauges. You will also find electric wipers, a third brake light, and an in-cab hood release. And not to be missed is the complete Vintage Air system that offers heat, defrost, and air conditioning in a single modern unit.
These pre-war Fords are some of the most desirable pickups on the market, and this one does not disappoint. It has a great look but is also nice to drive with countless upgrades. As you might imagine, building a similar truck from scratch would cost far more than the asking price and require plenty of patience as well. Why not get something turn-key and ready to go today?
